1. 2014 COLLIERS WOOD ARTS FESTIVAL

Pop-up Gallery and Portrait Studio on Saturday 26th, from 11:30 to 4pm in the Community Centre. Singing in French Workshop, The LGBTQIA+ Monologues, Classical Music Sunday Sessions, Painting and sketching Workshop, Merton Priory Chapter House Open Day. Info on web page and Facebook page.

2. GET SNAPPING FOR THE ARTS FESTIVAL PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION

The theme is “my favourite…” This can be a person, place, animal, thing or activity. Three age categories - under 11, between 12 and 17 and 18+ - with cash prizes! Exhibition on Saturday 26th. More details on the Arts Festival page.

SHORT STORY COMPETITION

Read your piece live to an audience - entries must be 300-5OO words in a style of genre of your choice. Open to writers of all ages. £40 for the winner other prizes for runners-up. Opportunity to be published in an ebook anthology. At the Donald Hope Library from 7 to 9pm on Thu 1st May.

3. TENNIS COACHING @ COLLIERS WOOD RECREATION GROUND

Saturday mornings: 9 to 10am (4-9 year olds) and 10 to 11am (10-16 year olds), at the recreation ground. £3 per lesson or £15 for a block of 6 lessons. Qualified instructors. Min 8 children per lesson. Contact Fili on filirojo@gmail.com.

Local volunteer gardeners meet most Friday afternoons and Saturday Mornings (weather permitting) in Christchurch Gardens, Christchurch Road.

Share the pleasure of music and singing from 10 to 10.45 every Monday morning with pre-school children, parents and carers, at the library.

8. BALLROOM DANCE CLASSES

An opportunity to learn Quickstep & Social Rhythm (Foxtrot) in April. Every Sunday. Beginners @ 5.30pm; Improvers @ 7.30; Intermediates @ 9. £6 per class or £15 for 4 weeks, at the community centre. For further information see web page.
